The research and data collection on housing careers in three major cities in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, focused on gathering information about respondent’s housing careers based on family life cycles, first home ownership, housing preferences, and environmental facilities or infrastructure availability.
Description:
Housing transitions are currently very dynamic. The desire for a good and comfortable home evolves from pre-family stages to forming a family and having children. These dynamics vary depending on the local context. In this case, the research locations represent three distinct types, with Yogyakarta as an example of a small city with high housing demand. The sampling methods used were simple random sampling and multi-stage cluster sampling. The collected data informs policy-making regarding housing provision and financing for low-income communities.
